As President Muhammed Buhari announced the initial 14 days lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that Lagos State Government will use this containment period to identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contacts with confirmed cases of Covid-19.
He disclosed this on his official social platform on Sunday while encouraged Lagosians to be resilient and he promised that the government will do whatever it takes to beat the virus. He said, “the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Muhammadu Buhari placed our state on a 14 day lockdown to help us in our fight against COVID19.
We will ensure the treatment of confirmed cases while restricting further spread to other states”. “We have have been preparing for this and I will like to explain how it will work for everyone.
This lockdown affects all our residents while the National Centre for Disease Control NCDC and Lagos State Ministry of Health are working hard at ensuring confirmed cases get the best care possible. He noted that the only exemptions of the lockdown are healthcare related businesses; food processing, distribution and retail companies, petroleum distribution and retail entities, power generation, transmission and distribution companies and private security companies.
“I guarantee that we will do all that is necessary to get through this period seamlessly”, he said.
