The National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Babagana Monguno has been issued an order to immediately respond to the alarming rate of banditry attack in Zamfara State.
Report has it that Nahuche village in Bungudu local government area of the state was under attack on Thursday and scores of persons including women were kidnapped.
It was said that the armed men made their ways into the village with motorbikes and started firing shots indiscriminately.
“We were all scared and there was pandemonium in the community as everyone was running helter-skelter. The armed criminals came on motorbikes but stationed them at the outskirts of the community and marched into the village.
“We can’t give the exact number of people kidnapped now but some of our women were among the victims and we have alerted the security operatives to go after them,” the villagers explained.
In a statement made available by Garba Shehu, the media aid to the president, on Thursday, Buhari said the continues banditry attack which has cost many lives can not be allowed to continue and that the NSA must find a clear solution to it.
The president said a meeting that will be attended by retired Major-General Bashir Magashi, Ogbeni Ra’uf Aregbesola and Architect Olamilekan Adegbite, Ministers of Defence, Interior, Mines and Steel and Directors-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) will soon be called to discuss the security issues and mining fueling the crises in the state.
