Buhari welcomes Biden, says Nigerians are happy

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other leaders across the world to congratulate Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris on their successful inauguration as President and Vice President of the United States of America.

Buhari who spoke through a statement made available by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday, said it’s hoped that there would be cooperation between America and Nigeria during this tenure.

President Buhari who congratulated America and it’s people said the inauguration marks an important era in the history of democracy. He said Nigerians rejoiced with President Biden owing to the fact that the Vice President has an African and Asian ancestry background.

He said, “We look forward to the Biden presidency with great hope and optimism for strengthening of existing cordial relationships, working together to tackle global terrorism, climate change, poverty and improvement of economic ties and expansion of trade. “We hope that this will be an era of great positivity between our two nations, as we jointly address issues of mutual interest.”
