It’s yet another day for twitter rants and free advice from rapper Kanye West. In a tweet that has received over eighty thousand likes, the rapper urged black people to “buy land”.

A few hours before he tweeted, a story broke out on TMZ of 19 black families that bought 97 acres of land south of Atlanta. According to the article, the acres of land will be turned into a black community with a functional economic system supported by agriculture and fishing.

Over the past few years a lot more black Americans have been relocating to countries such as Ghana and The Gambia to buy acres of land.

This emergence of uptake of land ownership is largely attributed to the need to create wealth. “Land can create multiple streams of income,” say experts at Iowa Wildlife Habitat Service.

While not everyone may not have disposable income to make such a bold purchase, Kanye West encourages black people to “use government money” in the form of loans to do so.

The rapper is currently worth US$1.3 billion after the success of his clothing brand Yeezy. The investment however took a lot of risk and the rapper admitted drowning in debt to make it happen. According to Forbes, he has reinvested some of his wealth in real estate and livestock
