Canada to invest $518m in supporting over 100 research projects

The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has announced an investment to support more than 100 research projects with $518 million to ensure researchers have tools and facilities to beat pandemic and build a more resilient nation.

Trudeau made this known on his official social platform on Wednesday, he said Goverment will continue to make smart investments in Canadian research to address child health, genome sequencing, and cancer immunotherapy.

“By continuing to make the largest investment in science and research in our history, we’re creating new jobs, a cleaner environment, and healthier communities now and into the future.

“This investment of more than $518 million will ensure these researchers have the facilities and tools they need a, and will fund projects that help us beat the pandemic and build a more resilient Canada”, he said

He added that today’s investment will help create a program to speed up vaccine production. CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Researchers at Ryerson University will use the funding to develop made-in-Canada technologies.

“To build cleaner, healthier, and more resilient communities. The funding will also help the University of Manitoba develop a digital archive to support reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, and will support other projects that address climate change”, he said.
