The United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has urged international community to come to aid of countries which are struggling to deliver life-saving vaccination for children during this Coronavirus pandemic.
The world body disclosed this on its social platform on Sunday, while called for global solidarity during this global crisis as true progress is shared by all. UNICEF noted that over the last four decades, global vaccination rates have jumped from 20 to 85% and saved millions of children from preventable deaths as this incredible progress also hides deep inequalities.
The World Body added that last year, 96% of children were vaccinated in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, compared to just 66% in West and Central Africa as the COVID-19 pandemic is widening these already unacceptable gaps.
“This global crisis calls for global solidarity. We’re urging the international community to do its part to help countries which are struggling to deliver life-saving vaccinations for children”.
