The United States President-elect, Joe Biden has commended health experts who made it possible as Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine received a vote of confidence from Food Drug Administration FDA advisers, clearing the way for the agency to authorize its use.

The President-elect who expressed happiness on his official social platform on Thursday, said yesterday marked another tragic, preventable milestone in the fight against COVID-19, but today’s news of Pfizer vaccine’s green light is a bright light.

According to him, “Yesterday marked another tragic, preventable milestone in our fight against COVID-19, but this news is a bright light. I’m grateful for every scientist, researcher, and public health expert who made it possible”, he said.

Meanwhile, Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine received a vote of confidence from FDA advisers on Thursday, clearing the way for the agency to authorize its use.

The agency is likely to grant an emergency use authorization within days, giving health care workers and nursing home residents first priority to begin receiving the first shots early next week.

With this formal blessing, the nation may finally begin to slow the spread of the virus just as infections and deaths surge, reaching a record of more than 3,000 daily deaths on Wednesday.

The FDA is expected to grant an emergency use authorization on Saturday, according to people familiar with the agency’s planning, though they cautioned that last-minute legal or bureaucratic requirements could push the announcement to Sunday or later.
