COVID-19: Nigerians reacts as Foreign Affairs Minister tests positive

By Oluwaseun Sonde

Nigerians have started reacting on social media as the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Goeffrey Onyeama declared his test to be positive to COVID-19 while having symptoms of the virus. The Minister took to his official social platform on Sunday to announce that he has tested positive to the deadly virus after the fourth test came out.

According to the Minister, “Did my fourth Covid-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best”, he said. Concerned Nigerians took to the Minister’s page to comment on his post, see below:

Hanzi @feggeborn We don’t believe you guys Sir, all vip that claimed to be tested positive are being used to publicise this fraud called covid-419, El Rufai claimed to be positive the next days we saw him kaduna road clearing traffic, definitely there is something fishy in this corona virus.

Nwanjoku James Okuo @jamesNwanjoku God have vindicated me if this news is correct. I need an apology from the Hon. Minister having arrested me on 3rd April 2020 when I asked him to run for a test after having a handshake with Late Abba Kayri Chief of Staff to PMB. I wish him quick recovery.

Oladipupo O. Salako @dipsonn It happens to me that I just love some Public figures without knowing them personally. Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama is one of those. Don’t worry sir, u r safe in our thoughts and prayers and by the mercies of God, u will enjoy speedy recovery in Jesus mighty Name. Get well soonest sir.

Ademuyiwa Ogunba @ademuyiwaogunba . You shall win sir! Covid 19 took away your best man & friend, it will not take you from us in Jesus name. You shall come back stronger in continuation of the great service u’re rendering selflessly to our country….. Remain blessed sir!

Angozin @angozin. But for real, I hope the sore throat clears up in 3days, you test negative and get back to work….. so Nigerian research scientists can have something new to say about COVID-19 recovery and discharge. Truth can be covered but never changed. It will show up in time.

Demola Adefajo @demoadefa Wishing you speedy recovery brother. We as humanity are in this battle against Covid-19 pandemic together. Whatever Covidiots say, there are only two categories of people- those that have been infected and those about to be infected. None is immune.

Eke Kelvin @ekekelvin6. Our prayers is with you and most of all we thank you for your job, you are trying and we are seen it may God bless you wishing you a quick recovery amen
