Defection: Umahi left for personal reasons – PDP voice out

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has voiced out that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, left the party for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time.

In a statement released by the Spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan on Tuesday, the party wished the Governor all the best in his adventure, while called on the members of the party to remain calm and committed to the ideals of the party as no individual is bigger than PDP.

The party thanked Governor Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of Ebonyi state (2007 to 2015) and two term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.

Meanwhile, the Governor confirmed his switch to the central ruling All Progressives Party (APC) during his interaction with journalists in his office, at the new Government House, Abakaliki.

Umahi who told Journalists on Tuesday that his reason for joining was to protest “injustice” being done to the south east by PDP.

The governor also debunked rumor that he was living the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because he demanded for the 2023 Presidential ticket of the country.
