Demolition of Nigeria Embassy: Ghanaian President tenders apology

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to express his sincere regret and apology to the demolition of a building on the premises of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, Ghana.

In a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ferdinand Nwonye on Tuesday, while the apology was done on phone call to the President Buhari on 23th June, 2020.

The Ghanaian President informed President Buhari that he had directed a full investigation of the unfortunate incident as It further emerged earlier in the day that some suspects had been arrested and will be arraigned in court.

On this note, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wished to call on Nigerians home and abroad to remain calm despite the highly provocative attacks on the High Commission of Nigeria in Accra, Ghana and reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government is engaging the Ghanian authorities at the highest level to seek redress.
