The Deputy Accountant General of Rivers State, Cyril Amaewhule has died of the COVID-19.

He has been buried according to the NCDC directives.

Over the weekend, the office of the Accountant General of Rivers State had debunked publications on the internet alleging that the AG has been infected with the coronavirus and is currently at the Rivers State teaching hospital.

The office of the AG said members of the public should disregard the false information, as the AG of the State, Dagogo Abere is not infected and fully healthy.

The Deputy Accountant General was the one infected with the coronavirus and not the Accountant General.

The issue was however reported to the security agencies to investigate and prosecute anyone responsible for the false information.
