Meet celebrity-approved aesthetic practitioner Dr Pramachard who offers reconstructive services to both women and men. Dubbed as SA’s “premier” cosmetics doctor, Pramachard offers a range of anti-ageing procedures from his infamous IV lounge, Herrwood Medical Centre, in Umhlanga Durban.

One of his more popular procedures is vaginal tightening which costs a meagre R2500 (US$150) per session. And women who have had the pleasure of receiving the treatment claim it is a“painless and quick” procedure.

As bizarre as it may sound more women at some point in their lifetime do perform vagina tightening activities for various reasons. According to a research study conducted by obstetrician Abigail Norris Turner, “12% of women perform vaginal tightening using cloth, lemon juice, traditional herbs and other products.”

Dr Pramachard is known for encouraging women to undergo treatment especially after childbirth, and claims it is safe to do so “6 weeks after giving birth”. “We tighten the vagina and the vulva, the outer area,” he said explaining the procedure. The procedure, which is an hour long, is performed using high-end technology.

Celebrity and socialite, Zodwa Wabantu, who has undergone the procedure with Pramachard, says she does it for “her own pleasure”, as many other women have claimed it improves their sexual health.

However, as popular as this practice is, it may warrant some unwanted side effects. According to a study conducted by the University of California, Santa Barbra “tight vaginal muscles could make a sexual encounter painful or impossible to complete.” Many more other studies discourage women from this practice.

Despite the reservations raised by this study and many others, Dr Pramachard is recommended by many South African and Zimbabwean celebrities including, Zodwa Wabantu, Mai TT, Sandile Durban and Nompilo Maphumula who claim his services “work”.
