He disclosed this while addressing the press on the violent attacks meted out to APC party members and supporters in Benin City by the Edo State Government and its hired thugs on Saturday. According to him, “These criminal acts of cowardice are all because the PDP and its candidate know that they have been rejected by our people. Left with no place to hide, they have resorted to violence and other egregious crimes which represent a direct affront on our hard-won democracy, the constitution, and the rule of law.

“We have written to the IG of the Police, INEC, and other relevant stakeholders to prevail on the Governor to, at the very least, respect the sanctity of lives and the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of our people to make a political choice without intimidation, harassment, and criminal assaults.

Obahiagbon also brought to public awareness the criminal and disgraceful plot by the Edo State Government to use thugs, cultists, and other criminal elements to harass, intimidate, and assault our party leaders and members on the eve of the Sept. 19 Governorship election.
