The Governor of Edo State, also the People Democratic Party Gubernatorial Candidate, Godwin Obaseki has promised that upon his reelection, his government would perform better than his first term, while the party would have succeeded in liberating Edo people from those who wish to take them back to ills of the past.
The Governor made the vow while addressing 2,000 of his supporters who are mostly women and youths that came out to reinforce their support for his reelection on Saturday in Edo, in a carnival-like march termed the Umbrella March. According to him, “I promised that upon my reelection, my government would perform better than in my first term, as we would have succeeded in liberating Edo people from those who wish to take us back to ills of our past”.
He appealed to his supporters not to partake in any act of criminality in the build up to the election but to report such to the authorities, using a dedicated phone number. He thanked organizers of the campaign rally, the Edo Voters Volunteers Assembly (EVVA), for mobilizing his supporters from across the 12 wards in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
