Edo: We’ll make teaching profession more attractive – Ize-Iyami

By Oluwaseun Sonde

The Edo Gubernatorial Candidate for All Progressive Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyami has said that one of the biggest industries in Edo State is education, while education cannot thrive in the absence of teachers as his government will make teaching profession more attractive.

While speaking on his Simple Agenda on Wednesday, he said one of the reasons why many teachers don’t want to go to rural areas to teach is because of the deplorable situation in those places.

He further said this has caused an acute shortage and great imbalance. “In rural areas, you will find only one teacher per school. How can a single teacher teach all subjects? How will an art teacher teach students sciences?

“My government will fix these problems. We will prioritize education, recruit and provide adequate welfare for teachers, and ensure that our children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment”, he said.
