The Edo State governorship election that is coming up in a couple of months has been a thing of drama in recent time, as the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) toll the lane of disqualifying the sitting and embattled governor, Godwin Obaseki over issues surrounding his academic certificates and anti party activities.

But is the governor truly having discrepancy in his academic certificates submitted, even after the University of Ibadan has cleared the air on the issues surrounding his certificate issued for years? Will it not be much for if we argued that APC is toying with the incumbent power of a sitting governor that was just meted with palpable injustice?

Or maybe, we should just wait till after the election, because with what was rightly obtainable on the streets of Benin and some other parts of the states depicts that, Obaseki still hold the key to the masses and may probably have his way if he clinched the party ticket of People Democratic Party (PDP), or we should be expecting the ‘ta-ta-ta-ta’ experience of Kogi?

It is then very sad that, APC’s action to unjustly disqualified Godwin Obaseki on democracy day is a show of how valued the southern part of the country valued power and politics over human lives, when the northern people use the democracy day to express their dissatisfaction with President Muhammad Buhari leadership style on tackling insecurity in the region.

When will Nigeria grow their politics and democracy in the manner of ethical standards and how it was taught in the classroom?

Will Oh Lord answer Obaseki’s prayer in his next desirable platform he will be choosing to slug it out with would be candidate of his former party?
