The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga has released the official examination timetable for Grade 12 learners today, the 12th of August 2020. The Minister had earlier taken the decision that both the June and November exams will take place concurrently following the closure of School on the 18th of March 2020. Matric learners will begin their concurrent exams of the 5th of November 2020 and finish on the 15th of December 2020.
The Department has said that the late start to the 2020 exams will allow the learners to finish the syllabus and afford them enough time to revise the work. More that 1.1 million children are expected to sit for the 2020 exams. Registered candidates will receive a letter detailing which subjects they are registered for and in which centres they will be writing at.
The exam results will be made known to candidates on the 23rd of February 2021. Motshekga assured learners that they will not be prejudiced when registering for higher education by the late release of the results.
