Eight shot dead in Nairobi

Police have this morning gunned down eight robbery with violence suspects. The eight were among the twelve suspects who were robbing a company within industrial area in Nairobi in the dawn of Monday August 24. According to police report filed at industrial area police station, the dozen were robbing Gensham Wood Enterprises.

Police officers were called and when they challenged the gang to surrender, they defied the order and instead opened fire against the cops. “They were challenged by the officers to surrender but opened fire prompting the officers to fire back.The officers fatally injured eight of them.” Police said in a report.

Four others escaped with gun shot wounds but police say they have launched a search for the suspects. Makadara sub- County Deputy commander while confirming the incident said they have recovered two home-made pistols loaded with bullets, a revolver and five pangas.

During the incidence police managed to recover two 50kg gas cylinders. A motorvehicle registration number KAS 340M Mitsubishi canter, white in colour loaded with assorted heavy machinery goods has also been recovered and towed to the station. Bodies of the eight have been taken to city mortuary awaiting for identification and preservation.
