The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Projects (SERAP) has threatened lawsuit over the blockage of some #EndSARS promoters’ account by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

This was disclosed on the official social platform of SERAP on Saturday, while condemning the act as illegal and unconstitutional effort to bully #EndSARS promoters.SERAP said this is a restriction to their right to freedom. “We’ll pursue legal action if authorities do not immediately stop this repression”.

SERAP called on Concerned governments and the United Nations including the UN Human Rights Council and the African Commission to publicly demand an immediate end to repression of people’s rights by the Nigerian government.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government begun clampdown on promoters of #EndSARS protests by freezing their bank accounts, as some #EndSARS promoters, said their banks informed them that Central Bank of Nigeria directed their accounts should be frozen.

Last months, youths calling for the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police protested for two weeks in major cities of the country. On Tuesday, some promoters of the protests said their accounts had been frozen for the past two weeks.
