Music sensation Enzo Ishall has received backlash from some fans and celebrities for his new single, “highest score”. The artist released a video yesterday on YouTube which shows a suited up Enzo with controversial prophet Passion Java singing in English for the first time. So far the YouTube video has received more dislikes than likes and comments have been turned off. Critics have blasted the artist for singing verses in English, deviating from the usual tantalizing Shona lyrics. They also criticized his unclear articulation of words citing that no matter how many times you replay the song you still can’t understand what the artist is saying. Fans are also not happy for the new style of music which seems more targeted to the international market alienating fans that originally fell in love with his rustic ghetto style. Some have cited that the artist began changing when prophet Passion Java showed interest in the artist and started sponsoring him financially. Many blame the prophet for ‘buying’ Enzo and for ruining his career. Some fans however, have applauded Enzo for releasing a single that can be marketed internationally and are wishing him well.
