A 27-year-old Zimbabwean woman has tested negative for coronavirus and cleared by doctors at Wilkins Hospital in Belvedere, Harare.

The patient, who had been to Wuhan during her stay in China, arrived at Robert Mugabe International Airport on an Ethiopian airline that was travelling from Guangzhou, was immediately escorted by ambulance to Wilkins hospital for quarantine.

All other patients in the hospital were transferred to Beatrice hospital to avoid the risk of contracting the virus. After a team of doctors led by Dr Soman Mudariki tested the young lady for the virus she was found negative. “Tests prove that she was negative.

Her parents visited her today. She is expected to be released anytime from this evening,” read the statement released by the mayor’s office in Harare. The government of Zimbabwe has assured citizens that it is well prepared to deal with all suspected cases.
