Former Idols star Mmatema shares 3 tips for success

By Tatenda Marwodzi

Former SA Idols contestant, Mmatema Moremi shared some tips on how to be successful on her youtube channel.

Her word of advice is to “prepare yourself”. Mmatema urged her followers to learn and research for whatever they want in life and work on bettering your craft daily. “Before I got my Idols breakthrough, I auditioned for every music competition. There’s nothing I did not audition for,” she testified. According to Mmatema, her Idols success could not have happened if she had not practised for it.

Mmatema auditioned for the Idols competition in 2015 and was in the top 2. She, unfortunately, lost to Karabo however her career was soured down after Idols. She went on to release her own album, ‘Love. Praise. Worship’.

Her second word of advice is to “speak it over your life.” Mmatema believes that one can become who they speak. “Bonang Matheba once shared that when she wanted a car, she went to the dealership to test drive,” she added giving a real-life example.

Finally, she urges people to surround themselves with positive people or people that share the same vision. “If I want to get married but I hang around people that say marriage is overrated I’m going to start seeing it like that,” she gave as an example.

Apart from music, Mmatema is a TV host for SABC 1’s Gospel Unplugged and will also be hosting a new show called The Wife. Her YouTube channel which is less than six months old already has over 370k views.
