Goat and Pawpaw Tests Positive for the Coronavirus

Speaking on Sunday during an event in Chato, The President of Tanzania John Magufuli dismisses COVID-19 test kits as faulty. Samples of a goat, pawpaw, quail, rabbit, lamb, and car oil were disguised as human samples and were tested for the Coronavirus disease.

The sample from car oil was given a male name, Jabili Hamza with 30-years-old and test results came up negative. The sample from Pawpaw was given a female name, Elizabeth Anet with 26-years-old and test results came up positive for the Coronavirus disease. The sample from the Quail came up positive for the Coronavirus disease. The sample from the rabbit came up as undetermined. The sample from the goat came up positive for the Coronavirus disease. The sample from the lamb came up positive for the Coronavirus disease.

“People who tested positive for the virus may not be sick.” The President said. “And I had said before that we should not accept that every aid is meant to be good for this nation,” Mr. Magufuli said, adding that the kits should be investigated. Some of the test kits were donated by Chinese businessman Jack Ma while others were imported from abroad. On Friday, Chadema the biggest opposition party in Tanzania, requested its members to suspend parliament sessions amid fears of the virus, while the President insisted that he will not place Dar es Salaam under lockdown.

“Let’s continue working, factories must continue to produce products. I have said it before and I will repeat this: I will not place Dar es Salaam under lockdown,” The President said.
