Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has sealed the building of the Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress.
This follows the recent call by the state labour chapter for the government to reconvene for a meeting with the labour negotiation group on the minimum wage.
The labour group and other public sector groups affiliated with the NLC came to an agreement in a meeting, that the government failed to pay the approved minimum wage, neither did they pay the amount negotiated with the negotiation committee.
Meanwhile, the Rivers state government in their response challenged the NLC and accused them of having political agenda, hiding under the cover of labour.
The Rivers State Public Service however reiterated that it has begun with the consequential salary adjustments as approved by the Federal Government, and will not be deterred by cheap blackmail.
It will interest you to know that the state chapter building for the NLC was built for free by the Rivers state government.
