Guinea: WHO supplies 11,000 Ebola vaccines to curb outbreak

The World Health Organization (WHO) has supplied over 11,000 Ebola vaccines to Guinea, as timely vaccination will be crucial to curb the Ebola outbreak in the country. The consignment arrived at the Conakry Airport on Monday in Guinea, while the cargo was from Senegal, its suffered bad weather condition which caused a stop-over in Dakar.

Regional Director of WHO, Dr Marshidiso Moeti said since the Ebola vaccines has arrived Guinea, a vaccination team be deployed to N’Zerekore and is ready to rollout as soon as the vaccines are received. The Guinea Ebola outbreak situation report stated that as of today 22rd February, 2021, recorded 8 cases, 5 deaths with 380 contacts at 98% monitored.
