‘I’m ashamed Bauchi has not domesticated Child Right Act’

BAUCHI State Governor, Bala Mohammed said as parliamentarian he felt ashamed that the state has not domesticated the Child Right Act. The Governor said this while addressing women group hosted inside Government House over the weekend.
The Group had taken the campaign against rape and child molestation to the first family. In his remarks, Mohammed said “I feel ashamed anytime Bauchi is been mentioned among those state that are yet to domesticate the Child Right Act.”
Mohammed said being a Senator, “I know that, there are areas that are repugnant to our religious or traditional practice, we must do it.”He lamented further that Child Right Act is being attached to culture and traditional inhibitions but informed that his administration will set up a committee that will comprise religious and traditional leaders to look at the issue of child marriage.
