In the digital world certificate does not matter but skills – Pantami

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said that in the next 10 years, emerging technologies will dominate the world, that in the digital world, what is most important is not the certificate someone has but rather the skill possess.

He said these during an interactive session with members of the press with the theme: Digital Economic, The Journey so far which was held in Abuja on Friday.

The Next Level Minister stated that the target of the rebirth Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy under his watch is to have a digital Nigeria by the year 2030.

The energetic, vibrant and focused Minister revealed that the digital economy strategy is built on eight (8) pillars which includes: Developmental Regulation; Digital Literacy and Skills Development; Service Infrastructure; Solid Infrastructure; Digital Services Promotion and Development; Soft Infrastructure; Digital Societies and Emerging Technologies and lastly Indigenous Content Development.

He called on well-meaning Nigerians to key into the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy unveiled by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) on 28th, November 2019 during the eNigeria 2019 Conference, Exhibitions and Awards.

The Minister maintained that the main focus of the digital economy in Nigeria is to produce potential employers and not potential employees in line with the Next Level Blueprint of the present administration.

The Tech Savvy Minister disclosed that subject to the availability of funds, the ministry under his watch will be embarking on a wide Digital Literacy Campaign with the vision of ensuring by the year 2030, 90% of Nigerians are Digital Literates.
