Senate President, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has said that those who are heading the security agencies especially the service chiefs, must sit up, in fact they must have milestones and timelines on how they are going to deal with the issue of security and if they can’t, they should be shown the way out.
He made this known during his visit to President Muhammed Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Sunday, over issues bothering on the security challenges in the country, he conveyed to the President on the position of the Senate, that government should do whatever it takes to improve the situation in the country.
According to him, “We have no luxury of any option other than to address the security challenges more than any other thing and we can’t just go on without any time frame for dealing with these issues.
“The senate and indeed the National Assembly is positively disposed to receiving even supplementary budget purposely to address the needs of the security agencies so that we are able to empower them to fight Boko Haram, banditry and other security challenges across the country”, he said.
He added that If after government provide some support and they are found short of expectations, they should be shown the way out if they refuses to go. “Because the lives of Nigerians are so precious and therefore must be more important than any other considerations or sentiments”, he said.
