The United States Government through its Embassy in Nigeria has reminded its citizens to exercise caution while traveling or residing in Nigeria during this holiday, as crime is endemic throughout Nigeria.

The US Embassy disclosed this on its official social platform on Thursday, stated that violent crime such as armed robbery, assault, carjacking, kidnapping, and rape is common throughout the country.

US called for extreme caution throughout the country due to the threat of indiscriminate violence. “Terrorists continue plotting and carrying out attacks in Nigeria, especially in the Northeast”.

It further warned that terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting shopping centers, malls, markets, hotels, places of worship, restaurants, and other places where crowds gather.

Adding that US Government has limited ability to provide emergency services to its citizens in many areas of Nigeria due to security conditions, as crime levels tend to increase during the holidays.
