Kagara Victims Still With Their Captors, Niger Govt Says

The governor of Niger State, Sani Bello, on Sunday night, said that the 27 students, staff and families abducted at Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, are still with their abductors.

The governor who made this known in a press conference at Minna, said efforts are being made to make sure the victims are released unharmed.

He said, “We still have the students of Kagara in the hands of the bandits and everything is being done to secure their release soonest.”

The victims have remained in captivity for Four days now even as President Muhammed Buhari ordered the security agencies for their immediate rescue.

The Niger State government through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Matane, had on Saturday, told the media that the dialogue for their release was in progress.

He said, “We can’t rush them (bandits) even if we have time, we can’t dictate to them. I believe they are taking their time but at the appropriate time, when we have other information, the public will know.”

Governor Bello also addressing the press on the release of the kidnapped passengers received at Government House, Minna, thanked all those who were involved in the rescue.

The victims were said said to have walked into the government house looking tired and were barred from speaking to the journalists as a government official revealed that they are tired and needed some rest.
