Lafarge says 85% of cement volumes sold through LeadRetail App in July

The country’s leading cement manufacturing firm, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe says more than 75 000 tonnes of building materials have so far been processed through its Lead Retail mobile application. The coronavirus crisis made e-orders practical and safe and has accelerated the adoption of digital technologies across all aspects of life and construction is no exception.

In the wake of Covid-19, Lafarge rolled out a digital retail application, called Lead Retail. Lead Retail mobile application is a customer application where customers can place orders, track deliveries and check balances in real time. Through a robust digital campaign in March this year, the app has been the number one tool for sale order processing in Lafarge Zimbabwe.

“Since its launch in March 2020, over 75 000t of building materials have been processed through the mobile application. “In July 2020 alone, 85% of our total cement volumes were sold through this application,” the company said. The 21 days of lockdown in April and the reduced trading hours under lockdown restrictions impacted the business activity on customers and sales resulting in sales volumes sliding by 14% in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
