Shudufhadzo Musida (24) has been crowned Miss South Africa 2020 becoming the first-ever Limpopo village girl to win the title.

The media and the public have gone into a frenzy sending their heartwarming congratulatory messages after she was crowned last night at a ceremony held in Cape Town. Amongst them was Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula who shared how “thrilled” he was and Sho Madjozi who shared a picture of the two along with a “well done” message.

The new Miss SA was born and bred at Ha-Vangani, Masila village in one of the most marginalized provinces in the country. She joins other creatives that are serving Limpopo to the world, the likes of MasterKG of the Jerusalema hit song, Sho Majozi a BET award winner, and the sensational Ndlovu Youth Choir that made it to the Top 10 of America’s Got Talent.

What is particularly commendable about her win is that she breaks all the beauty stereotypes. Shudufhadzo is dark, curvy, bald and Venda.“A Venda woman with no hair just won Miss SA, from a tribe that experiences the most tribalism. The women are often mistreated and made fun of. Beauty is redefined,” said writer and podcaster Paballo Chauke.

In her question and answer session last night, she did say that “as Miss South Africa I’ll be a representative of the beauty and diversity in this country”.We are happy to see beauty redefined in the pageantry and wish to congratulate the new Miss South Africa on her journey.
