The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has today commissioned the newly renovated primary health center in Oyo town; Aafin Primary Health Center.
According to the governor while explaining the reason why health care center should attract top priority in the state, he said “we commissioned the upgraded Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Aafin. I explained why we are focused on getting our primary healthcare system right. Most people in Oyo State will never use secondary or tertiary healthcare facilities all their life. I reiterated that we will get one PHC per ward working.”
“We have asked that 7.5% of Local Government monthly statutory allocations should go to healthcare because out of the 721 PHCs in the state, only about 10% are in good condition. This 7.5% will yield about N12 Billion in three years, which can go towards getting the PHCs working again.” He added.
He further notes that, “We also inspected the upgraded and equipped Model Primary Health Centre, Awe which will serve as a temporary isolation centre during this COVID-19 pandemic. Afterwards, it will serve as a standard primary healthcare facility for the community.”
