In a broadcast, the spokesman for the Malian Soldiers “Mutineers”, Col. Ismael Wague has called on Mali’s Civil Society and Political Movements to join them in creating conditions for a political transition that would lead to elections.

The Mutineers who called themselves “National Committee for the Salvation of the People”, made the call after carried out coup that led to the resignation of Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on Wednesday.

They said Keita’s removal was to save Mali from further crises. “Our country is sinking into chaos, anarchy and insecurity mostly due to the fault of the people, who are in charge of its destiny,’’ Rueters quoted Wague as saying. Meanwhile, Keita resigned and dissolved parliament as soldiers detained him at gunpoint while the Mutineers announced plan to form a civilian transitional government that will organize fresh elections.
