The Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Ibrahim Pantami has said that the only way we can move forward is to support and promote our indigenous technology, total negligence of Local Content in the telecommunication sector will make us consumers for life.

He made this assertion today while making his remarks shortly after being briefed by the Management of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on the issue of SIM Cards Swap and other related matters faced by the telecommunication sector on Monday.

He maintained that Nigeria is blessed with talented individuals, citing an example with Kaduna born Yusuf Abdulrahman Sambo who is among the leading researchers in 5G technology globally.

Dr Pantami reminded the telecom regulators of the existing executive orders 003 and 005 which are all aimed at encouraging local content patronage in the public sector, stressing that the main aim of NCC is to protect the interest of Nigeria and Nigerian mobile subscribers.

Pantami further called on NCC to be more proactive in listening to complains and agitations of subscribers, act on it and provide timely feedback.
