The Minister of Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Senator Godswill Akpabio has accused the National Assembly of benefiting most from the NDDC.
Senator Akpabio was speaking at the probing session carried out by the House Committee on NDDC regarding the curruption allegations laid against him and the alleged money laundering in the NDDC. Akpabio said most of the contracts in NDDC are given out to members of the National Assembly.
The Minister also clarified that there is an ongoing forensic auditing in the NDDC as opposed to the allegations by the former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh that there is no forensic auditing ongoing.
Akpabio appeared before the Committee after he was invited on the 17th of July, 2020 to appear before the Committee to defend the allegations laid against him and the curruption practices in the NDDC. The Minister of NDDC Affairs testified after the current Acting MD of the NDDC Daniel Pondei was rush out of his session after experiencing seizure.
