By Oluwaseun Sonde

Neimeth Pharmaceutical PLC has launched its national deworming campaign tagged: “Stay worm free, stay healthy” aimed at arousing the consciousness of Nigerians on the importance of deworming regularly.

The Managing Director/CEO of Neimeth Pharmaceutical PLC, Pharmacist Matthew Azoji disclosed this at the media unveil event on Thursday while unveiled the famous Nigerian comedian and actor, Oluwatoyin Bayegun, popularly called ‘Woli Arole,’ as its brand ambassador for its Pyrantrin drug.

He said “Latest estimates indicate that globally, more than 800 million children are in need of treatment for these parasites and over 30 million Nigerians are affected with worm infestation. “Over 85 percent of children, who are also the key transmission link in the families, carry heavy loads of them.

“Over 70 percent adults in Nigeria have not taken any worm expeller in the last 10 years or more, as revealed by current survey. “As we all know, worm infestation if left untreated leads to severe malnutrition, poor mental and physical development, severe anaemia, intestinal obstruction along with economic consequences on the nation and society,” he said.

He noted that there’s need for each family to use effective worm expeller to live healthier, adding that intestinal worms produce a wide range of symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pains, and general body weakness.  He pointed out that the over 60-year-old Neimeth Pharmaceutical was launching the health campaign to ensure that Nigerians become worm-free.

“We are positioning our brand or worm expeller, Pyrantrin, as the ideal worm expeller for the whole family. We want worm free individuals, a worm-free family and a worm-free nation. “We’re rolling out with massive activations in our markets, neighbourhoods, pharmacies, and schools, aimed at educating the public on the importance of deworming regularly and placing Pyrantrin as the ideal worm expeller for the family to stay healthy by being worm-free”, he added.

He said the company is currently in partnership with various groups and schools through the Pyrantrin Kids Club so that the organization can achieve this goal and reduce the burden of worm infestation in children and society.

“I’m delighted to have Woli Arole as the Pyrantrin brand ambassador, describing him as a humour merchant with a cheerful, loving personality”.  Also speaking, the Executive Director, Sales and Marketing at Neimeth PLC, Pharmacist Roseline Oputa, urged Nigerians to deworm regularly every three months using Pyrantrin as their regular worm expellant while pointed out that Pyrantrin is an effective, safe and well-tolerated drug.

Similarly, the Head of Marketing at Neimeth PLC, Pharmacist Chovwe Emaniru, said that Pyrantrin is suitable for everyone across all ages from 6 months old to adults, adding that the company is a trusted name in family medicine.

In his remarks, Woli Arole promised to improve the Pyrantrin brand positively, saying “we want to take Pyrantrin to another level.” “It’s about changing the mindset of Nigerians on deworming. Pyrantrin is about safety, good health and longetivity for all Nigerians,” he noted.
