The Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has said that the Ninth National Assembly will always ensure that the interest of Nigerians, their dignity are protected, this is what National Assembly are supposed to do as representatives of the people of Nigeria.
He disclosed this in Owerri, Imo state on Friday, at the burial of the late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, who died sometimes in December, 2019, he said Uwajumogu lived for something, acted on those things he believed and died believing in them. “Senator Uwajumogu believed in his Imo North zone, which he represented.
He worked meritoriously for this zone, committed to one Nigeria. He was of the thought that parliamentarians must remain focused, protect and foster the interest of the people they represent”, he said. He consoled with the family of Uwajumogu, a husband, a father and a brother who lived for his people and died ensuring that he performed his obligations to his people.”For us in the Senate and indeed the National Assembly, we will continue from where he stopped.
Those ideals will not die, those ideals we will uphold”, he said.
