Director-General National Youths Service Corp NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has reiterated the total commitment of the Scheme to the Federal Government’s fight against the novel corona virus pandemic, as all is now set by the NYSC to present thousands of face masks to the Federal Capital Territory Administration as earlier requested.
He stated this when he visited the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) face masks production site at Maitama in Abuja on Wednesday, during the visit, General Ibrahim applauded the ingenuity of the Corps Members and praised them for their commitment towards making the Scheme proud. He said NYSC will not relent in its efforts but will remain one of the strong influencers of the Federal Government’s fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country while commended the striking qualities of the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu for tasking the FCT Corps Members on the mass production of face masks.
Ibrahim also commended the supervisory role of NYSC FCT Coordinator, Hajiya Walida Siddique Isa describing it as an undeniable boost to the Corps Members production capacity as FCT Administration had engaged the Corps Members on the production of ten (10) thousand face masks which would be distributed to the residents of the FCT.
The face masks project which is at the instance of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), is already at the peak of production barely two weeks of its commencement. The FCTA through the Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu had indicated FCTA’s preparedness to support FCT Corps Members to produce face masks in large number for the Territory at the presentation ceremony of NYSC branded Anti-Covid-19 items such as hand sanitizers, face masks and other items to the FCT Administration. The Corps Members immediately swung into action to prove their mettle as production level within a week had reached an advanced stage of production.
NYSC FCT Coordinator, Hajiya Walida Isa expressed delight for the Director General’s visit to the production centre. She said the visit will impact positively on the production prowess of the Corps Members and assured the DG that the Corps Members will deliver within the timeframe and in compliance with Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) approved prescriptions.
