Speaking on Saturday afternoon, the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has warned education institutions that if they will not meet the required standards put in place by the Ministry of Health, then they will not be cleared to re-open in September.
“I have been on a tour to various public colleges to assess preparedness for the resumption of studies and I’m shocked to find out that many institutions don’t have thermo-guns for checking temperatures. In this case, learning institutions will not be cleared for re-opening in September.”
According to the CS, it’s only 3 teachers’ training colleges that have put in place the necessary measures recommended by the Ministry of Health in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19. These colleges include Muranga Teachers Training College, Kericho Teachers Training College, and Asumbi Teachers Training College. The CS has also mentioned that Strathmore is the only University in Kenya trying to meet the recommended measures put in place by the Ministry of Health.
