BAUCHI State House Assembly has been thrown into puzzle after the killing of a serving lawmaker, Hon. Musa Mante Baraza who was murdered by suspected gunmen on Thursday night while abducting his two wives and a one year-old daughter.
Before his death, Baraza who represented Dass Constituency was known to be sleeping in his hometown Dass, everyday –a distance of about 40kilometres aways from Bauchi metropolis. Baraza’s death has become a puzzle to his colleagues in the 9th Assembly. According to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman, Mante Baraza’s demise is “shocking and a great loss to Bauchi State.”
The Speaker who said he was yet to recover from the traumatic grief of the devastating news of the merciless murder of Mante in his village prayed for the bereaved family. Suleiman condemned the attack and murder of the lawmaker and vowed to work with security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the devilish act. He described the deceased as Godfearing, humble and a dependable ally who served and related with people selflessly and honourably.
He said that the “deceased lived a simple and exemplary life worthy of emulation. The fact that he had lived in his Village interacting and serving his people, speaks volumes on how faithful and humble Late Hon. Musa Mante Baraza was. “As Chairman House Committee on Public Petitions Hon. Mante has diligently and effectively discharge his responsibility by being so much dedicated and committed to finding solutions to many problems affecting people across the State.
“He has contributed immensely in the lawmaking business and other functions of Bauchi State House of Assembly. “He was so much friendly and kind to all of us his colleagues and staff of the Assembly. Indeed we will lose his elderly and statesmanly gestures, joviality and the jokes we always share during plenary, meetings and other engagements,” the Speaker explained.
Meanwhile, Police said Mante’s wives and daughter that were abducted are; Rashida Musa Mante (40), Rahina Musa Mante (35) and a daughter Fausar Musa Mante (1year) while four empty shell of life ammunition was recovered at the scene. Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Wakil said investigation is on to bring the culprits to book.
