The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on schools, religious institutions, homes and offices to create awareness and reorientation across all levels to stop rape and sexual violence.
He disclosed this on his official social platform on Thursday, he said “we lent our voices to campaign condemning rape and sexual violence. “Rape is a heinous and abhorrent crime as Lagos created register for sex offenders and recognised offices and agencies for rape and other sexual crimes, we must work together to kick this behaviour and mentality out of our society” he said.
He noted that Lagos is very competent in handling these issues but “there is a cultural and entitlement mentality we must end as we all join hands to stop rape.
He directed the security officials to be extra sensitive and alert to these cases. “Please, you have a part to play in your homes, schools, religious institutions and offices. Awareness and reorientation across all levels must happen”, he said.
