Rotary Club Donates ICT Laboratory To Poly High School

As part of its effort towards contributing to the education sector of the country, Rotary Clubclub of Ibadan-Oritamefa, has donated a computer laboratory to Polytechnic High School, Ologuneru, Ibadan on Thursday.

The computer laboratory which comprises of 10 desktop computers was commissioned by the District Governor of the Club, Rotarian Jumoke Bamigboye, during her visits to the club in Ibadan.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the project, Rotarian Bamigboye, stated that the club donated computers to schools whose student might not have access to computer education.

”Having known the importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in this century, we decided to donate set of computers to schools like this which might not have access to computer training.”

Also speaking is the president of the club, Rotn Felix Odusanya, who explained that “the club decided to address one of the needs of the school by giving and supporting the school in the aspect of computer training.”

He further added that “the initiative is aimed at giving support to the government, and adding that, it is necessary for the club to take up the project having known the challenges faced by the government in the management of education sector. Government cannot be left alone to reposition this education sector.”

”We know it is a public school that is meant to be funded by the government but, we all know the challenges that are being faced by our government and also know the importance of education and training. We are aware that quite a number of trainings that is going on in the schools now which required some forms of support, and we have decided to support the Polytechnic Ibadan High School in the area of computer training.”

“The project would have a good impact in the studies of the students as ICT is part of the basics necessity of education in this modern era.” Odusanya added.

The school principal, The Polytechnic High School, Mrs Magret Ijadeyila, while reacting, commended the club for choosing the school as beneficiary of such huge project .

She added that “the initiative will help the students in having a good practical knowledge of computer, and that, the
development will ecourage the teaching of computer studies in the school to do more of impacting the practical knowledge required of their curriculum and syllabus”

The event also witnessed the launching of the club’s website Rotary Club Ibadan-Oritamefa.
