Kenyan gospel artiste and a former Tusker Fame winner Ruth Matete is not allowed to bury her Nigerian husband, Pastor John Apewajoye who died from burn injuries. The DCI has been requested to hold the body until the Nigerian government issues a directive allowing release. Mr. Adanga, Ms. Matete’s lawyer said that the move was unfair and they will communicate with the Nigerian embassy so they can be allowed to bury the deceased.
“The postmortem results are consistent with what Ruth said about a fire incident in their house.” Adanga said. Dr. Johansen Odour, a government pathologist together with a team of other pathologists have conducted a postmortem examination on the body to establish the cause of death and concluded that John died of multiple organs failure and didn’t bear any marks of injuries on his body. In her statement about the incident, Ruth says that John was initially admitted to Shallom hospital and was later transferred to Bellevue South where he developed complications and was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital.
A nurse from Kenyatta National Hospital questioned Bellevue’s decision to admit a burn patient for one week knowing that the hospital doesn’t have a burn unit. Reports say that the couple had a troubled marriage, adding that the singer was violent towards her husband. In a video, Jesse Ikoenaze who has identified himself as Pastor John’s manager and a close friend claims that Ruth was a violet woman and frequently argued with John.
He tells of an incident where Ruth stabbed John almost killing him. The 34-year-old star has been having a tough time at home and on social media.
