The stalemate between the Zimbabwean government and doctors is still in a stand still as more doctors have declared that they are going on strike. Over 400 doctors have been fired in November following refusal to end their near three month strike.
The Zimbabwe Senior Hospital Doctor’s Association (SHDA) announced yesterday that all senior doctors who were offering emergency services will cease to do so until government reinstates the 431 doctors fired. They also called for government to address doctors’ incapacitation and provide adequate salaries.
On the other hand, Minister of Health, Obadiah Moyo stated that government is currently in a process to recruit new doctors. He re-iterated that the fired doctors will only be reinstated if they hand in new applications and go through the recruitment process like everyone else.
