
Two members of the Aye confraternity group identified as Waliyu and Timileyin Omobolaji, have been arrested in Igbelara, Ikorodu area of Lagos state by the state police command.
The police in Ikorodu were alerted that some cultists were seen with dangerous weapons on the move to cause troubles before the operatives waded in.
Speaking on the arrest of the two cultists which happened last Tuesday, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said the command is determined to eliminate all criminal elements in the area.
He explained that the police engaged the cultists in gun fire exchange and captured two while others with gun wounds escaped.
He said, “The police, with the help of some community members, rushed to the scene as the deadly gang opened fire on them.”
“Two of them, Waliyu and Timileyin Omobolaji, were eventually arrested with wounds while one cut-to-size pistol, 10 expended cartridges and six live cartridges were recovered from them.
“Those injured have been taken to hospital for medical attention.”
