Two arraigned for stealing colonel’s 1.2M

Two men were on Monday arraigned before magistrate court sitting in Oshogbo for stealing N1,200,000 of colonel Soji Akanni.

Kehinde Adedayo(48),Adekunle Tijani(52) were arraigned on three-count bothering on stealing and false presentation.

The accused persons were said to have obtain N1,200,000 from Colonel Soji person with the pretence of helping him in using caterpillar to clear his site,which is knowing fully to be false.

The police prosecutor,Adeoye Kayode said the accused persons committed the offence at Oroki Estate Area Oshogbo, sometimes in the month of March 2019.

The offence which is contrary to and punishable under section 516,419,390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 voll 11 laws of osun state of Nigeria 2002. The accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

The defence counsel,Kazeem Badmus pleaded to the court to commit his client into bail in a most liberal terms,saying they are ready yo provide a reliable surety and ready to stand their trial.

The prosecutor didn’t opposed the bail application.

Adedayo when answering the magistrate said he lived at Army barrack,and Tijani who told the court he was a civil servant said he is from Omonjo street Oshogbo, that they are both a native of Ede.

Defence counsel explained that the sum of Two million Naira was paid to the first accused person for bush clearing,and he returned N800,000 out of it and it remains N1,200,0000 to refund back.

The presiding magistrate,Olusegun Ayilara committed the first accused person into bail In sum of one million with two sureties in like sum, and committed the second accused person into bail in sum of one million naira with one surety in like sum.

The case adjourned to January 17,2020 for mention.
