UN welcomes Biden’s steps on US re-entering Paris Agreement

The United Nations has welcomed the development of the United States President, Joe Biden’s steps for America to re-enter Paris Agreement which is the global roadmap to tackle the climate emergency.

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres who made this known on his official social platform on Thursday, said with all countries fully engaged, it’s a real opportunity to prevent climate catastrophe and embark on transformative Climate Action.

President Biden rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement on his first day in office, one of a sweep of executive orders to tackle the climate crisis, following his swearing-in ceremony as the 46th president.

In a U-turn on the Former President, Donald Trump’s decision to exit the deal in the first months of his presidential term, after he dubbed the agreement a “disaster” for America.

Rejoining Paris was one of about a dozen executive orders that the newly-minted president signed, the beginning of his administration’s plan to unwind the destructive environmental and climate policies of the Trump era.
