Fifteen days into lockdown, Zimbabwe’s first lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, continues to show her philanthropic side winning the hearts of the poor.
In a campaign to keep vulnerable members of society fed, the first lady spent the day cutting, blanching and drying leafy green vegetables. She did so in her own backyard, using vegetables grown in her own garden.
The first lady could be seen getting her hands dirty cutting leafy green vegetables in preparation for sun drying. Sun-drying is an African tradition used to preserve vegetables for future use. The dried vegetables retain their nutritional value and are considered a delicacy in many regions.
Through her charity organisation, Angel of Hope, many families will get to enjoy this delicacy despite the economy going through tough times.
