Zimbabwe: Coronavirus cases surpass 7 000

Zimbabwe’s coronavirus cases reached 7 116 on Sunday as the health ministry reported 139 new cases. Of the 139 new cases – all were caused by local transmission. 

“Harare reported 124 cases: these again are from a backlog of samples collected over the last week which are now being processed. “7 day rolling average for new cases further goes up to 100 today from 81 yesterday,” the health ministry said in its daily update. Meanwhile, one death was recorded, bringing the death toll to 208.

The number of people who have recovered from the virus increased by 13 to 5 373, leaving 1 535 active cases. National Recovery rate stands at 76%. The country has done a cumulative total of 209 125 Covid-19 tests to date since the onset of the disease in March.
